TWO - Homosexuality in TK
There are no really obvious gay story elements in TK.
(Yes, I have read it with my eyes open).
Even Arachne isn't so much gay as transgendered. What there is however, is an awful lot of gay subtexts. Lets just look at Alexiel and Rociel. She was imprisoned with only the female sisters for company, for a long time. She is far more masculine than her brother, wielding a god-sword, commanding rebel armies and conducting herself rather well on the battlefield. Not to mention that scene between her and Kurai. Yes, I know it was really Setsuna in her body, but still...Alright, she has that feminine, nurturing side we see in her relationship with Kurai but you must admit, she is quite...well, butch. Not that I'd confuse the absence of superficiality and weakness in her character with lack of femininity. Her brother holds the monopoly on superficiality and weakness but that's not what makes him so effeminate.
Like her, he exists in a homosocial environment. Granted, there are the sisters, but they hardly exert any influence, female or otherwise. Without being particularly camp, he is flamboyant and his beauty is of the pretty, feminine kind. Where Michael's misogyny is outspoken, Rociel only suggests disdain for women. Both the men he is conceivably bonking in the manga are fine examples of masculinity, Katan and Lucifer. He seems particularly enamoured of the latter's brooding power and dominance. Regarding other characters there's so much body swapping going on that mind-gender and body-gender are hopelessly mixed up.
